HISTORY
Mount Kenya East Diocese was created in 1975. In 1977, it’s then Bishop, now retired Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK), instructed CORAT Africa to conduct a feasibility study on the development needs in the diocese. The result of the study recommended immediate starting of three departments, namely: health started in 1979, education started in 1978, rural development started in 1982 department and management and administration started in 1977. As a result, in 1982, CCSMKE was curved out as an autonomous development department, given it administrative physical location in Kerugoya, and registered as a company limited by guarantees.

STRUCTURE

Trusteeship:

Christian Community Services of Mt. Kenya East (CCSMKE) is the development arm of four Dioceses of former Mt. Kenya East Diocese. These are Kirinyaga, Embu, Mbeere and Meru Dioceses. The 4 synods are the CCSMKE Trustees. We are in the process of including the newly formed Marsabit missionary area diocese. The trustee dioceses have independent development units in which CCSMKE offers technical advice / consultation.

AGM:
As a company limited by guarantee, CCSMKE has 50 members who form the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The 50 members are formed as 12 elected members of the standing committee synod of each diocese plus the Executive Director and the company secretary who is also the chancellor.
CCSMKE staff attends the AGM as ex-official members.

Board of Directors:
CCSMKE has a Board of 21 Directors formed from the 5 five dioceses plus the Executive Director. The company Secretary is counted as a Director in one of the Dioceses.

Executive committee:
In order to enhance administration and day to day management of the organization, an Executive committee of the Board meets quarterly to receive reports from all sectors and align them in regard to the organization vision and mission. The Board has mandated formation of a monitoring committee of 5 members to assist the Executive committee on a day-day management of the organization.

Monitoring committee:
There is also a monitoring committee of the executive committee of the board of directors. It is made up of five members, one representing each constituency dioceses and the executive director. It  monitors programme implementation and the general CCSMKE management. It reports directly to the executive committee.
This is not a legal committee
